DDS-401 Benchtop Conductivity Meter

The DDS-401 is a reliable benchtop conductivity meter with LCD display, measuring conductivity (0.05 μS/cm to 200.0 mS/cm), resistivity, TDS, salinity and temperature. Features automatic frequency and range switching, 1–3 point calibration and RS232 connectivity. A straightforward instrument for routine laboratory and QC conductivity measurement.

Product Description

The DDS-401 benchtop conductivity meter is a dependable instrument for routine conductivity, resistivity, TDS, salinity and temperature measurement in laboratory, quality control and industrial environments. Built around a traditional black LCD display with high-brightness backlight, it provides clear, direct readings without the complexity of a touchscreen interface — making it a practical, easy-to-operate choice for daily laboratory use.

Where the DDS-421 and DDS-411 offer touchscreen interfaces, data storage and USB connectivity, the DDS-401 focuses on the measurement essentials: accurate multiparameter readings, reliable calibration and RS232 output for data printing. Automatic frequency and range switching ensures the correct measurement conditions are applied across the full conductivity range without manual adjustment, and auto temperature compensation from -5.0°C to 110.0°C maintains accuracy across varying sample temperatures.

The DDS-401 is suited to single-operator laboratories, educational facilities and industrial QC stations where conductivity measurement is performed regularly and results are recorded via printer or manually logged.

FAQ

What is the difference between DDS-401 and DDS-411?

The DDS-401 uses a traditional LCD+LED display and has a narrower conductivity range (0.05 μS/cm to 200.0 mS/cm vs 500.0 mS/cm), lower accuracy (±1.0% FS vs ±0.5% FS), no data storage and RS232-only connectivity. The DDS-411 features a 4.3-inch color TFT touchscreen, wider measurement range, higher accuracy, 1500-point data storage and USB connectivity. Choose the DDS-401 for routine use where simplicity and a traditional interface are preferred; choose the DDS-411 or DDS-421 when higher accuracy, data storage or USB connectivity are required.

Does the DDS-401 include a temperature probe?

No. The T-820D temperature probe is an optional accessory for the DDS-401. Without the probe, manual temperature entry is required for temperature compensation. For applications where accurate automatic temperature compensation is important, we recommend adding the T-820D probe at the time of order.

What measurement modes does the DDS-401 support?

The DDS-401 measures five parameters: conductivity, resistivity, TDS, salinity and temperature. Automatic frequency and range switching applies the correct measurement conditions across the full range without manual intervention.

How is the DDS-401 calibrated?

The DDS-401 supports two calibration methods: 1 to 3 point standard solution calibration using the four built-in reference values (146.5 μS/cm, 1408.3 μS/cm, 12.852 mS/cm and 111.31 mS/cm), and electrode constant calibration for non-standard or application-specific electrodes. Single-point calibration with the nearest standard solution is sufficient for most routine applications.

Which electrode should I use for different conductivity ranges?

The included DJS-1N (black) electrode (cell constant 1.0) covers 2–20000 μS/cm and is suitable for most standard water quality and laboratory applications. For low-conductivity samples below 2 μS/cm, use the optional DJS-0.1 (cell constant 0.1). For high-conductivity samples above 20000 μS/cm, use the optional DJS-10 (cell constant 10). Contact us to confirm the right electrode for your specific application.

Does the DDS-401 have data storage?

No. The DDS-401 does not have internal data storage. Results are read from the display and recorded manually, or printed via the RS232 port in GLP-compliant format. If data storage is required, consider the DDS-411 or DDS-421, which store up to 1500 measurement records with date and time stamps.
