Product Description

The DWS-51 sodium ion meter is designed for measuring sodium ion concentration in aqueous solutions. It is particularly suitable for quality monitoring of high-purity water in power plants (such as steam, condensate and boiler feed water), and can also be used in universities, research institutes, petrochemical, microelectronics and other sectors to measure sodium ion concentration (or activity) in natural water, industrial wastewater and similar samples.

  • Digital display for direct, accurate readings
  • Manual temperature compensation function
  • Displays both pNa value and sodium ion concentration [Na+]

FAQ

What is the DWS-51 used for?

The DWS-51 is designed to measure sodium ion concentration in aqueous solutions. It is commonly used for quality monitoring of high-purity water in power plants — including steam, condensate and boiler feed water — as well as in universities, research institutes, petrochemical facilities and microelectronics manufacturing to measure sodium ion levels in natural water, industrial wastewater and process water.

What electrodes are included with the DWS-51?

The DWS-51 is supplied with electrode 6801 (sodium ion selective electrode) and electrode 6802 (reference electrode). Both are required for accurate sodium ion measurement. Contact us if you need replacement electrodes or application-specific alternatives.

Does the DWS-51 support automatic temperature compensation?

The DWS-51 supports manual temperature compensation within a range of 0–60°C. For samples where temperature varies significantly, we recommend measuring sample temperature and entering it manually before taking readings to ensure accurate results.

What is the difference between pNa and Na+ concentration display?

The DWS-51 displays both pNa (the negative logarithm of sodium ion activity, similar to pH) and sodium ion concentration [Na+] in g/L or μg/L. pNa is used for precision analytical work, while the concentration display is more practical for process monitoring and direct comparison against regulatory limits.

How do I calibrate the DWS-51?

The DWS-51 supports 1-point or 2-point calibration using standard sodium ion solutions. Two-point calibration is recommended for improved accuracy across a wider concentration range. Refer to the operation manual for the specific calibration procedure and recommended standard solution values.

What are the storage and maintenance requirements for the electrodes?

The sodium ion selective electrode (6801) should be stored in a low-concentration sodium ion standard solution when not in use. Avoid soaking in distilled water for extended periods as this can affect electrode response. Rinse with distilled water between measurements and wipe gently with a soft tissue. Replace the electrode if response becomes sluggish or unstable after reconditioning.
