pHB-6 Portable pH Meter

The pHB-6 is a compact, lightweight handheld pH meter for basic on-site and field pH measurement. Features LCD display, 1–3 point auto-calibration, measurement hold, exceed-limit alarm and power-saving mode. At 0.2 kg and 120×40×34 mm, it is one of the most portable instruments in the Skill Scientific range.

Product Description

The pHB-6 handheld pH meter is a compact, easy-to-carry instrument designed for basic pH measurement in the field, on production lines and in educational settings. With a slim vertical body weighing just 0.2 kg, it fits comfortably in one hand and can be taken to any measurement location without the need for a bench or power outlet.

The pHB-6 provides indicative pH readings over a 0 to 14.0 pH range with 0.1 pH resolution — suitable for applications where a quick, approximate pH reading is sufficient and high measurement precision is not a priority. These include general water quality screening, agricultural field checks, aquaculture monitoring, swimming pool and wastewater testing, and basic food and beverage assessments.

Auto-calibration at 1 to 3 points with automatic buffer recognition keeps field setup simple. Practical features include a measurement hold function, exceed-limit alarm, electrode and battery monitoring, a self-check function and a power-saving mode — giving operators the tools they need for reliable daily use in the field.

FAQ

What is the difference between pHB-6 and pHC-2?

Both share the same compact form factor (120×40×34 mm, 0.2 kg), display type and feature set. The key difference is precision: the pHC-2 offers 0.01 pH resolution and ±0.05 pH accuracy, while the pHB-6 provides 0.1 pH resolution and ±0.2 pH accuracy. Choose the pHB-6 for basic indicative readings where approximate pH values are sufficient; choose the pHC-2 when more precise field measurements are needed.

What applications is the pHB-6 suited to?

The pHB-6 is designed for applications where a quick indicative pH reading is needed and high precision is not required. Typical uses include general water quality screening, irrigation and agricultural soil checks, aquaculture and pond monitoring, swimming pool and spa water testing, wastewater pre-screening and basic food and beverage field checks.

Does the pHB-6 support temperature compensation?

No. The pHB-6 does not have a temperature measurement or compensation function. It is designed for use at ambient laboratory or field temperatures (5–40°C). For applications requiring temperature compensation, consider the pHB-7, which supports automatic temperature compensation from -5.0°C to 110.0°C.

How is the pHB-6 calibrated in the field?

The pHB-6 supports 1 to 3 point calibration and automatically recognises pH 4.00, 6.86 and 9.18 standard buffer solutions. For most field applications, a single-point calibration using pH 6.86 or a two-point calibration with pH 4.00 and 6.86 is sufficient. Carry pre-made buffer sachets for convenient field calibration.

What does the measurement hold function do?

Pressing the hold function freezes the current pH reading on the display. This is useful when measuring in confined spaces or awkward positions where the display cannot be read directly during measurement. The reading remains on screen until released, allowing it to be recorded at a convenient moment.

How long does the battery last?

The pHB-6 runs on DC 3.0V batteries. Battery life varies with usage frequency and backlight use. The built-in battery monitoring function displays remaining battery level, and the power-saving mode automatically reduces display activity when the instrument is idle to extend battery life in the field.
