Product Description

The pHS-5 benchtop pH meter delivers laboratory-grade precision for demanding electrochemical measurement applications. With 0.001 pH resolution and ±0.002 pH accuracy — equivalent to the highest-precision instruments in its class — the pHS-5 is designed for pharmaceutical formulation, analytical research, precision buffer preparation and any application where measurement uncertainty must be minimised.

Built around a 7-inch color TFT touchscreen with Metro-style interface, the pHS-5 combines high precision with intuitive operation. A built-in “?” help function provides instant access to the on-screen operation manual at any point during use, reducing operator training time and minimising measurement errors.

The pHS-5 supports auto-recognition of four international buffer standards — GB, DIN, NIST and USA — as well as user-defined buffer values, making it compatible with laboratory protocols worldwide. Three-level user management, real-time electrode condition monitoring, and GLP-compliant data printing complete the feature set for regulated laboratory environments.

FAQ

What is the difference between pHS-3, pHS-4 and pHS-5?

All three models share the same 7-inch color TFT touchscreen, 1–5 point calibration, 1500-point data storage and GLP printing. The key difference is precision: the pHS-3 offers 0.01 pH resolution and ±0.01 pH accuracy; the pHS-4 and pHS-5 both offer 0.001 pH resolution and ±0.002 pH accuracy. The pHS-5 additionally supports four international buffer standard groups (GB / DIN / NIST / USA) with automatic recognition, making it the most versatile option for laboratories working with multiple international protocols.

Which buffer standards does the pHS-5 recognise automatically?

The pHS-5 automatically identifies buffers from four international standard groups: GB (Chinese national standard), DIN (German/European), NIST and USA standards. User-defined buffer values are also supported, allowing calibration with any custom standard solutions your laboratory requires.

Does the pHS-5 support automatic temperature compensation?

Yes. The pHS-5 supports both automatic temperature compensation (ATC) via the included T-820D temperature probe, and manual temperature compensation. The ATC range is -5.0°C to 110.0°C, covering the full measurement range of the instrument.

What does the electrode condition monitoring function do?

The pHS-5 continuously monitors the performance of the connected pH electrode and displays electrode status in real time on the touchscreen. When electrode response deteriorates — due to aging, contamination or damage — the instrument alerts the operator to clean, recondition or replace the electrode. This helps maintain measurement accuracy and prevents undetected measurement errors caused by a degraded electrode.

How do I connect the pHS-5 to a PC or LIMS?

The pHS-5 has both USB and RS232 ports. Connect via USB with the included driver and PC software to export data in CSV format for import into LIMS, Excel or other data management systems. RS232 is available for connection to serial printers or legacy data systems. All records include date, time and operator ID for full traceability.

What is the recommended calibration frequency for the pHS-5?

For routine laboratory use, calibrate before each measurement session or at minimum once daily. At ±0.002 pH accuracy, the pHS-5 is sensitive to electrode aging and temperature variation. Fresh calibration with appropriate buffer solutions is particularly important for high-precision applications such as pharmaceutical QC and buffer preparation. Replace the pH electrode every 12–18 months under normal use.
